Description
LSC Redback Patch Bay Pre Wired Patch optional Test Module
In smaller installations where cost is a major factor, providing a dimmer channel for each outlet in the venue is unlikely to be viable. This is where the patch bay comes in.
In this scenario each of the outlets in the rig is hard-wired back to a central patch bay that provides a flying lead systems located next to the dimmers. In this way, depending on the show, the lights required can be chosen from the patch bay and plugged into the dimmer offering a degreee of flexibility that could not be achieved easily in any other way.
The Redback Patch Bays have been designed to compliment the Redback Wallmount series of installation dimmers/relays. Utilising the same styling methods, the result is a highly compact series of patch bays, that offer the installer and user unhindered access and ease of use.
The system is modular and based on modules of 12-circuits each with a choice of either Australian “piggy back” style plugs as shown in the photo on the right or Wieland GST18 connectors for countries where the Australian style connector is not suitable.
The optional digital Test Module caps off the product group by adding safe and reliable load and source testing with overload indicators and circuit protection. An added bonus of using this module is the provision of an outlet for an LED gooseneck light ensuring there is enough light in the area to see what you are doing.
The Redback Patch Bay starts with a frame. Three frame sizes are offered allowing for systems up to 36, 72 or 120 circuits respectively. Each patch module provides 12 circuits each individually terminated in a connector strip. The unique mechanical design of the patch modules allow them to be clipped in an angled down position exposing the terminals and access to the internal cables. This makes wiring of the modules easy and means that it is not necessary to try and support the module while you try and terminate the cables.
A frame size larger than initially required may be used to allow for future expansion. The required number of 12-circuit patch modules are fitted with the empty locations filled with blank panels.
An optional 1RU Test Module is available and permits testing of both lamp circuits and dimmer circuits. A simple load indicator shows the operator the level of load connected to alleviate possible overloading of the dimmer circuit. It is also useful to confirm that the connected lamps are in fact operating.
The frame is of similar design and construction as the Redback Wallmount and the ability to invert the Redback Wallmount units means that for ease of use in larger systems the dimmers can be located either side of a Redback Patch Bay.
The optional cable management clips are purchased as pairs and help in arranging unused cables to aid in access to the required patch leads.
Already got a rack cabinet? No problem, each of the Redback Patch modules is pre-punched so that they can be fitted into a standard 19″ rack.
